What is Facebook and where does CoreBlox fit in?
Facebook (http://www.facebook.com)
is a social
networking web site
with over 58 million
active users.
Developers like
CoreBlox are able to
build add-on
applications inside
Facebook with a goal
of reaching this
enormous audience.
Currently CoreBlox
offers two Facebook
applications:
I Have
Kids &
Locate
Friends. I Have Kids
allows parents to
create unique
mini-profiles of
each of their
children and keep
friends and family
members informed of
their growth,
milestones, and
activities in their
daily lives. Locate
Friends allows
Facebook members to
seek out people who
share common
interests.
We are constantly
enhancing these
applications and
planning for brand
new offerings as
well.
What is the CoreBlox Penny Campaign?
The CoreBlox Penny
Campaign is an effort to
use the broad reach of
the Facebook social
network to fund and
promote charitable
causes. To start,
CoreBlox will donate
funds to
selected charities based
on users installing and
using our I Have Kids
application. Later
the Penny Campaign may
be added to other
CoreBlox applications,
as well as
applications built by
other developers.
The overall concept is
very simple:
1. A user installs
the I Have Kids
application and
designates a charity
preference.
The act of signing
up will result in a
1 penny contribution
to the user’s
charity.
2. An additional
penny is donated for
each child the user
registers.
3. An additional
penny is donated for
each sent invite
that results in a
new user
registration.
The spread of new
Facebook
applications is
often described as
“viral”, and with
good reason. It is
not uncommon for
installs and daily
usage to spike as
word travels from
one Facebook friend
to another. We
anticipate that
parents who want to
convey news and fun
information about
their own children
will be thrilled to
help kid-focused
charities in the
process, giving the
CoreBlox Penny
Campaign an even
better chance of
reaching its $50,000
2008 donation goal.
How can I help with the CoreBlox Penny Campaign?
There are multiple
ways you can assist
with this effort:
1. If you are a
Facebook user who
has children, you
can install I Have
Kids to start contributing
immediately. Go to:

of a charitable
organization that is
benefiting from the
Penny Campaign, or if you
want your
organization to be
added, we’d like to
speak with you about ways we
can further promote
your cause. A couple
simple ways to start might be to:

the Penny Campaign

Campaign from your
web site
