CA SiteMinder


CA SiteMinder (a.k.a. Netegrity SiteMinder SSO) is a web access management system that enables user authentication and secure Internet SSO (single sign-on), policy-driven authorization, federation of identities, and complete auditing of all access to the web applications it protects. SiteMinder can provide secure Internet SSO to internal employees and applications as well as external service providers such as software as a service (SaaS) and business process outsourcing (BPO), so that partners and managed services can share in protected SSO. SiteMinder was originally created by Netegrity, which was acquired by CA (Computer Associates) in 2005. SiteMinder is typically used in large enterprises that require high levels of reliability and scalability. Aside from the pure security benefits achieved by decreasing the risks associated with SSO over the Internet, implementing SiteMinder allows for ease of administration, enhanced user experience, and improved preparedness for compliance and audits.

CA SiteMinder Web Agent Edition


SiteMinder Web Agent Edition deployments consist of web agents running on each web server that hosts a protected application. These SiteMinder web agents communicate with a centralized policy server that contains information about all the access policies and protected realms.

CA SiteMinder Secure Proxy Server (SPS) Edition

SiteMinder Secure Proxy Server Edition deployments provide centralized access management by controlling traffic that enters the Enterprise Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). By providing a single point of entry to the corporate network, SiteMinder SPS reduces operating costs and simplifies administration.
